Night Drive

It’s been just over a month since my accident and summer just feels like its barrelling right through.

Lay Back, Baby

Recovering from an injury sucks. I know I shouldn’t complain but this has all been pretty depressing.

Once the initial shock and pain of it all passes, you’re just left with a whole lot of time to twiddle around and think about all the other stuff you’d rather be doing. And that’s in between dealing with lawyers and insurance people and all the annoying paperwork that comes with an accident of this nature. It’s not been fun, and on top of it all I’ve been struggling with an incredible lack of focus when I finally felt well enough to return to this project.

Fortunately when I opened up Night Drive the other day, I kind of snapped out of it.

Now’s The Right Time For A Good Song

The bands original recording of Night Drive is one of those tracks I can only hope to one day actually produce – I’ve said it dozens of times before, but they know how to produce a solid closer. Well, this one isn’t actually a closer, but it kind of feels like it should have been, right?

Be Happy To Get What You Do

Anyway, if you were kicking around for the initial release of this one, you’ll recall I ended up going a completely different way with my own cut, busting in through the wall of 2000’s pop-punk similarly to what I did with 23. It’s goofy and a little dumb, but I think it’s fun and a nice fit for this summer weather I’ve been enjoying lately while stuck at home.

I made some relatively minor tweaks just to give the track a little more oomph, but it’s still pretty similar to before.

Enjoy!

Night Drive was originally released with the Futures album. You can listen to the old mix here:
