Cities and towns and hamlets, I suppose.
Everything You’re Saying
It’s funny how once you’ve made a (often long, arduous, painstaking…) big decision that’ll result in some significant changes to your life, suddenly people around you have an attitude shift and… they’re unusually opinionated.
I guess it’s because now the thing has become a real plan of action, but I think it really just highlights how little people care until a situation impacts them in a direct way.
I have been pretty vocal to my inner circles about my plan to try to rebuild my life out of province, but when I reiterated the dates more recently, suddenly it was as though I’d never mentioned it ever before. Or attempted it already just last year!
It’s the kind of thing that makes you wonder if you’ve gone insane and simply imagined all the previous conversations you had about it, but no, you haven’t – they just weren’t really interested in listening because the conversation had no barring on their own lives. The conversation now with change fast approaching is sort of thinly veiled by what this does to them and not what it means to you.
Have you ever wondered how the room feels when you are no longer in it?
Suddenly I’m curious.
There’s No Practical Advantage To Chase That Love
I find myself increasingly unconvinced if certain people in my life intentionally mean to be hurtful in their actions or if they legitimately think so little of my existence generally that it doesn’t really ever cross their mind. One of those is worse than the other, but I’m not sure I can decide which.
In any case, I no longer really care to have that answer – I don’t think it would make me feel better to fill that lapse in understanding, there just comes a time to move along.
The Only Way Out Is…
I’m not sure yet. But I’ll probably take the Trans Canada Highway to start and see where that goes.
